23 Weeks

Alrighty......

So I am not sick anymore!!!! YEAH!! I haven't taken the nausea medication for almost 2 months now. I have to go in and get another ultrasound when I am 28 weeks and also when I am 32 weeks. They have to make sure that she is growing properly. We found out that I have a 2 vessel umbilical cord, which just means that I have 1 vein and 1 artery instead of 2 arteries. The doctor said not to worry to much about it...so we have been trying to keep our minds off of it and just go with the flow. I am exercising regularly. I have just started a class called GROUP ACTIVE. We do low-intensity step aerobics, low weight lifting, and some meditation. I figured I could do the class if the instructor could teach it at 5 1/2 months pregnant. I am also doing AQUA DYNAMICS, which is water aerobics, every Tuesday night. I get such a great work-out and the fact that there isn't any pressure on my back and knees is just great!!!! One of these days I will start BODY FLOW, which is yoga. I tried to do it last week, but I had done a class before BODY FLOW so I was exhausted by the second song......there were six songs...I only stayed for the first two. I have been gaining weight, which is good since I lost so much in the first couple months. I am working five days a week now. It has been a little harder on Ethan and I both, but the extra money has been nice. In March I will probably be pulling some doubles because Spring Break here is two weeks and most of the afternoon and night shifts are covered by high school students. It is going to suck, but I know that my supervisor needs me......so I will do it without complaining...too much.

Anyway...about Ryan MacKenzie now:

Ryan should be more than 11 inches long and should weigh just over a pound (about as much as a large mango). I am actually able to see her squirm underneath my clothes. The end of this week is an important milestone: My one-pounder would have a good chance of survival if born now--about 85 percent if given the right care. Her body is well proportioned, although lacking in body fat, and the blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing. About 50 percent of "early preemies" experience complications ranging from eye problems to intracranial hemorrhage (spontaneous bleeding in the brain); the rate drops steadily from the 24th week onward.
